Electrical & Power FAQ
Hexagon kits are low-voltage LED lighting, and most home installs are simple. Because every space is a little different, we print the exact power draw on every kit so you, or your electrician, can confirm the right setup. Here are the questions we get most.
Powering your kit, the simple version
Will these lights trip my breaker?
For a typical home install, almost never. Our standard kits draw modest power, and we print each kit's exact wattage and amperage right on its product page. The larger commercial kits draw more and can need more than one circuit. The honest answer for any specific space is that a licensed electrician should confirm the circuit you plan to use can carry the kit's listed load. We publish that load on every kit so it is easy to check.
How many hexagons can one circuit handle?
It depends on your circuit and what else is already running on it, which is exactly why we list each kit's total watts and amps rather than a one-size number. The reliable way to know is to match the kit's listed draw to your circuit with a licensed electrician. Every kit also ships pre-split into multiple power feeds, so the load is divided across the install instead of sitting on a single run.
What about large commercial kits?
Big kits can draw more than a single household circuit is meant to carry. They are built to split across multiple power feeds, and each kit's page shows its total draw. For anything at commercial scale we recommend a licensed electrician size the circuits and breakers for your panel. Send us your layout and we will map the power plan with you before you buy.
Do I need a dedicated circuit?
Most standard kits run fine on an existing circuit. A dedicated or additional circuit only tends to come up on the largest commercial layouts. The watts and amps on each kit's page tell you and your electrician what that kit needs. When in doubt, ask us or your electrician, and we will help you plan it.
Do I need an electrician?
For a standard install many customers handle it themselves. For larger kits, hardwired installs, or anything where you are unsure about your panel, use a licensed electrician. We are also a DFW business that installs these, so if you are local, reach out and we can scope the job for you.
Not sure what your space needs? Send us your dimensions for a free custom layout, and we will include the power details so you and your electrician have everything up front.
The Team
Matt and Kade
Welcome to SV Luminary! We're Matt and Kade, a father-son duo out of Dallas-Fort Worth. Our journey began in our home gym, where builder-grade lighting was holding back a space we'd worked hard on. The search for the perfect illumination led us to LED hex lights - and eventually to a kit worth putting our name on.
How We Got Here
Finding a Better Kit
We trialed nearly every hex kit on the market and kept finding the same shortcuts: plastic frames that sag, 2-pin aluminum wiring that works loose, zero support after the sale. So we kept searching until we found a kit that fixed every one of them - aluminum frames, copper wiring with 3-pin locking connectors, fire-resistant parts throughout. We were so impressed with the results that we decided to share them with others.
The Goal
Family-Run, Built to Last
This business is how we bond - and how Kade is learning entrepreneurship while still in high school. Our goal is simple: high-quality, efficient, stylish lighting that transforms your space the way it transformed ours. Every kit ships with spare parts in the box, a 2-year warranty, and a real DFW team that answers the phone. Thank you for joining us on this adventure!
